Don Klipstein has some excellent info on LEDs (and on lighting in general) on his page <http://members.misty.com/don/light.html>
particularly <http://members.misty.com/don/lede.html> which explains why LEDs are so perfect for certain applications, but they still don't match up to good T8 fluorescents for general use (and IIRC, T5s offer even more potential.)
