I love my xl-1s but....

I wish for 48vdc output
I wish for temp comp or even better a networked controller
I wish and wish some more for a grid tie version
I wish for 3-5 kw unit

And what does Bergey do? They work on a 50Kw unit... (which I ALSO wish
for).

There was talk of collaboration with Outback on a 48 VDC XL-1 paired with an
Mx-60 (a "WX-60") but then boB left and that is on hold. After lots of talk
about grid-tied 1 kw it sounds like the decision was made that "it doesn't
make sense to pair a wind genny with an inverter that costs more than it
does... the market wouldn't buy it". I told them I could sell more of those
than conventional ones... I wonder how the whisper Link is selling?

So here is a heads up... Instead of a windy boy, I paired an outback
GTFX2524 with a VERY small sealed bank 37 AH... yikes. Sure enough the
inverter couldn't keep the voltage down. What I hadn't prepared for was
that the new controllers need to be manually reset when they get into high
voltage "slow mode" (generally a nice feature). So we came back and added a
dump load to the controller to burn off the peaks... no probs since last
April (but probably pretty inefficient, clumsy and more expensive than a
windyboy would have been. And those batteries will probably need changed
out several times. (There is NO back up load... customer didn't want even a
single circuit - he had bought into grid tie, loved his PV/SMA system and
wanted a grid tied wind system too).
