PV source circuit disconnect location [RE-wrenches]

Wrenches:

Aside from the fact that its a good idea to do so, when running PV
source circuits through a building in metal conduit, do you or do you
not have to have a disconnect in accordance to 690.14(C)(1)?

There seems to me to be a circular reference in the code. 690.14(C)(1)
reads that a disconnect must be located outside or inside at the nearest
point of entry. Then there is an exception allowing the disconect to be
remote from that point for installations that comply with 690.31(E)
which requires the use of metal conduit. But 690.31(E) requires that
the disconect comply with 690.14(A)-(D) which require the disconnect to
be outside or at the point of entry. Does the exception prevail?
