Vacation is my favorite tool [RE-wrenches]

Hello friends. Thanks to those of you that mentioned this list as among your favorite tools.

I know it is a busy time for most of you, at least those that are getting module deliveries, but this is also vacation time coming up for a lot of folks.

One of the things you can do if you are going out of town is to put your wrench list emails on hold until you are back. To do that, you must log in to the Topica site. Since I haven't sent it in awhile, enclosed is the standard blurb for "changing your email address and other reasons to log on to Topica."

One hint I want to pass on about logging in: At some point after a page or two of disgusting sign-up pages for this or that, you can just close your browser -- you are signed up in spite of the inferences that you need to continue looking at the ads until there are no more. (At one time I came across 20 pages of ads before I stopped counting.)

After closing the Topica browser window, just check your email, and use the link in the confirmation message you received from Topica. At that point you have verified your email address to them, and are officially logged into Topica.

Here's the instructions, remember to follow them carefully, as a misstep can be difficult to rectify.

Do you have some reason to change the email address you use for the Wrenches list?

Are you going on vacation and want to suspend the receipt of Wrenches mail for awhile?

Do you want to switch delivery methods and receive only the digests of messages?

These are a few of several reasons why you might want to log on to the Topica web site.

To do that, just go to http://lists.topica.com and log in:
a. if you have never logged into Topica before, log in with the email address you use for the Wrenches list.
b. if you have logged in before, log in with the same address and password you used before.

Be sure to REMEMBER YOUR PASSWORD, just as you remember the kazillion other passwords you have amassed in this computer age. Also be sure to remember which of your email addresses you used for that login and password.

Once you are logged on, you will see that for each Topica list you are subscribed to, you can choose a delivery method:
1. Messages (this is the normal delivery method)
2. Digests (this will give you a single, daily message when there are posts)
3. Web Only - No Email (this is what you do to suspend receipt of Wrench posts while gone, and then change it back when you get back from your trip)

Here's how to change your email address, should you need to.

1. Log in and go to My Topica.
2. On the left side of the logged in screen is "Preferences" and under that "Email Addresses".
3. Click on "Email Addresses" and when that page opens, "new address".
4. Fill in the blank provided with your new address, save with the Add button, then log out.
5. When you get the confirmation email to the new address, reply to it.
6. Log on to Topica with your original email address & password, and go to My Topica.
7. Click on the RE-Wrenches link, then on "Email Address & Delivery" which you will find near the bottom of the left-hand column.
8. In the pull-down menu called "Deliver To," choose the address you wish to have this list's mail delivered to, click Save and you are done.

A bit cumbersome, but better than having Michael delete one email address from the list and adding another, which can mess things up next time you want to log in to Topica. You can have several different addresses that Topica accepts, and even a different one for each Topica list you subscribe to.
