Thanks for all your ideas. We have tried the flex straight out of the 
inverter without the adapter. We found 2 problems: the clearance is 
really tight to bend #6 wires to the terminals and we began visibly 
bending the metal trapezoid plate. The 2nd problem was the flex 90 hit 
the cooling fins of  the inverter causing more bending of the plate. I 
like  the Midnite solar idea, only  from the picture it looks like there 
flex 90 is bending at a more than 90 degree angle , just like mine.  
Maybe they have flex 105 degree fittings I can't get?
I'm just so old fashioned.... I got really used to hooking up Trace 
inverters AC side with a single offset nipple, but hey their clearances 
on the old stuff were bad too....
