Conrad,
In the infinite wisdom of multiple distribution channels for the same
product, Bosch has a Pro Tankless line which has supposedly different
distribution and markets than its Bosch AquaStar line. Regretably, every
tankless heater manufacturer, I am aware of, uses this same marketing ploy.
To use solar (or wood or ???) preheated water, you need to have a heater
that is capable of sensing water temperature and adjusting the burner to
provide the incremental supplement rather than heat a fixed amount. The
industry jargon is temperature modulated rather than (or in addition to
exclusively) flow modulated burners.
The Bosch Aquastar 125BS is such a temperature modulated tankless water
heater suitable for preheated water.

Hi All,
A while back there was discussion over which tankless hot water
heaters(gas) were compatible with solar preheat. I notice the Bosch
GWH425--- manual says not to use preheated water becuase it will cause an
overheat cutout. Anybody have models that have worked well for them?
thanks,
