That is our issue also, especially in hot climates. And trust me, Arizona 
has some hot climates.
We have never seen a premature failure of a Concorde in any installation we 
have done or sold for here.
We initially stopped selling gelled totally for about 4 years due to the 
extremely high failure rate. The jury is still out for us on the MK. 
Supposed to be better than the old brand-x, but so far not enough real 
history on them to say for sure.

To be honest, even though we offer the MK, we don't quite trust them yet. It 
has always been our experience that any battery that lists CCA as a rating 
is not deep cycle.

Colleagues:

While it has been some time since the decision was made and I don't have
the data at hand, it is my recollection that we switched to AGMs over Gels
because it was harder to overcharge AGMs.
