Don, I just received this very info in a reply to a question about 
emissions from utilities from Anne Marie Johnson, Senior Clean Energy 
Organizer for Public Citizen in Austin. 
"...gas plant emissions would be a roughly central estimate between coal 
emissions and nuke emissions (zero).  CO2 emissions from natural gas 
combustion are around 118 lb CO2 per million BTU.  Assume a gas plant 
efficiency of 58% when converting energy input to electricity output and 
you can calculate the CO2 per kWh and thus the total CO2 avoided through 
GreenChoice." 
Green Choice is the Austin Energy 100% wind purchase program that now 
sells wind generated kW hrs for less than NG kW hrs.
