You need a pressure tank, or a storage tank at the top of the hill is
better. It *is* a variable speed pump, that's how it deals with variable
solar input, but it doesn't come with a proportional pressure control like
some of the AC only powered Grundfos models. If input power is more or less
unlimited, like running off battery or AC power, then it simply delivers the
maximum it's capable of at that lift. (Like a "normal" AC sub pump.)
