Barbara,

I am a graduate of San Juan College's RE program.  The program not only
features hands on design and installation, but all graduates spend a minimum
of 2 semesters studying the NEC.  Carl Bickford, the engineering professor
who founded the program, teaches solar thermal design and installation at
SEI (Solar Energy International) in the summer and these topics are also
covered in the San Juan College degree and certificate programs.  In so far
as solar photovoltaics is the program focus, a NABCEP certified installer is
on staff.  The SEI guide, "Photovoltaics: Design and Installation Manual",
is required reading.  Guest lecturers usually include John Wiles and Windy
Dankoff.  The curriculum is of a high quality and relevant to anyone who
wants to work in the industry.  By my informal count, the program has a high
job placement percentage.  Also, it is a very affordable program, even for
out of state applicants.

Hi All - 

We have a recent High School Grad, who at this time does not want to commit 
to a 4-6 year formal college education.  However, they are willing to commit

to higher education in the PV industry.  They have the resources to learn at

any school in the country.  Where would you suggest they should look?
