Hi Todd,

This will be a remote regular VFX. I am hoping that it will be as or more
forgiving than the SW series. Can you comment on this ??

Carl,

I believe this heavily depends on whether you are talking about a grid 
tieable FX (GVFX) or regular FX (VFX). 

The grid tieable Outback inverters have very particular input parameters 
for the AC input to conform with UL1741 intertie regulations. This makes 
using a generator on that input very difficult if it is not heavily 
regulated. If I was putting a genny on a GVFX, I would use one of the 
new inverter generators available. I understand they are working on an 
outboard AC1/AC2 transfer switch, as the FX series only has one AC 
input, although I am not sure if the input specs on AC1 and AC2 would be 
different. One can hope. IMO this is one of the only warts of Outback 
inverters.
