Just to be clear, the current power tolerance rating for the BP Solar SX170
and SX160--their new modules for the U.S. market--is nine percent, not ten.
(A ten percent power tolerance has been the norm for Sharp larger modules
since they were introduced into the U.S. market.) While I can't claim to
have any particular juicy inside info on the BP Solar decision-making
process, it seems to me that they have made the calculation that they can
get away with a larger power tolerance in the North American market than
what the Europeans will accept. Unfortunately for us and our customers, BPS
has decided to drop one of their solid sales points--that their former power
tolerance of +/-5 percent and better than some of the competition--in favor
of cost-cutting. They save their top of the line, the 7 series Saturn
modules with a ZERO power tolerance, for the hungry Germans and Spaniards.

Bummer man,

aloha,
