I'm copying to RE-Markets so this important discussion can move to the right
forum.
Last year German PV sales beat Japan and the German PV market will continue
at its fast pace to for several more years.
Japan has a sustainable and growing PV market with door-to-door salespeople
actually selling $30k to $60k PV systems.
PV manufacturers have increased capacity and modules are starting to flow
back into the US.
China is coming on strong to PV so expect next year's solar grade silicon
shortage to continue for at least 3 years.
80% of PV in the US is in California thanks to political activism by
Wrenches and others pushing for net-metering and rebates.
The battle against obsolete electric utilities (see ) and entrenched coal,
gas, nuclear and oil interests has only begun.
Warren is right about avoiding in-fighting. The latest in-fighting is solar
companies that broke rank with CalSEIA to form their own lobbying group. As
if we need another solar lobbying group in a state with a pro-solar
governor. Foes of solar don't have to divide-and-conquer. We cling to our
petty differences and do it for them.
Reminds me the story about a man who stopped for gas in a little town.
Across the street from the gas station on the 3 other corners were churches.
The man asked, "Why are there were so many churches in this little town."
The attendant answered, "Because there's some people I just don't want to
sit next to in church."

Sorry, but I just don't see where a statement like:
"born-in-an-oilfield Resident -in-chief and his nasty, greasy ilk?"."
Adds anything to the discussion. Nor do I see it as "a valuable opinion". I
could sit here and bash energy (non) policies for every president since
Truman, but that will not solve anything.
RE should take a lesson from the NRA. Despite a thousand opinions on guns,
they have avoided the in-fighting that seems to plague so many other groups
and presented a voting block that the politicians listen to, whether they
agree or not. If we don't get our act together in the same way, we will
never be effective.

Who said anything about Bush bashing? All Bob-O said was
"Can't blame the PV manus for copping an extra Euro or two. We wrenches
are doing our part. 'Suppose it could be that born-in-an-oilfield
Resident -in-chief and his nasty, greasy ilk?".
So why be defensive? Or are we not allowed to share valuable opinions
due to current level of the "terrorist" threat?
