The US has never had an energy policy, just rhetoric and knee jerk reaction 
to the crisis of the moment. And that crosses all political boundaries - 
which is why I think it is a bad idea to get involved with bashing any one 
particular president or politician.

There is more than enough blame to cover them all. Just look at the 
pandering going on right now from all sides concerning the price of oil - no 
solutions proposed by anyone - just bandaids.

For an interesting perspective on this I recommend the forum at 
http://www.peakoil.com.

What it has is 50+ different policies for every state, plus an uncounted 
number of policies for local governments. That may or may not be a good 
thing, but I am not sure I want the heavy hand of the feds involved in 
anything either.

I too have severe reservations about the direction the current US
administration is heading with energy policy, but if others on this list do
not want to discuss it on this forum, I can respect that.  I've had enough
of decisiveness, so I'm out to build bridges, starting with holding back on
my rhetoric.
