Greetings Wrenchs,

I was recently asked to trouble shoot an existing off grid installation
where the owner keeps a short leash on system improvements and decides what
needs doing. They have a DR 3624 that feeds a small home with computer and
Satellite modem which are backed up by a 500 watt APC UPS as they often
lose power to low battery<small array and too many loads.
("I dont need a Trimetric", and were not using much power")

So in listening to the DR hum and grind in tortured noise I checked out the
Hz and was amazed to find 288+ and 311+ Hz on two different meters. I traced
it down to the UPS. It seems to

Is it superimposed over the 60Hz or is it driving the DR at that Freq?

What are the consequences to the DR or loads with that kind of freq?

The unit behaves normally with AC input or as Inverter with the UPS
disconnected

It was bench tested and checked out fine.

Any engineering insights into cause and effect of this is appreciated.
Thanks,
Wallace Stahle
