Wrenches,
Solar Works, Sun Power & Geothermal Energy Co. and Borrego Solar Systems
have teamed up to sponsor a series of workshops to address NEC
regulations for installation and safe operation of PV systems. These
workshops will be presented by John Wiles and held throughout the Bay
area July 6th through the 8th.
The workshops are identical in their content, but differ in location and
cost. They are intended for building inspectors, plan checkers, fire
officials, PV installers, system-designers, engineers, and architects
who wish to stay on top of the latest code compliance issues to help
facilitate safe and long-lasting PV systems. Participants will be
provided with an intensive overview of small-scale solar electrical
generation and NEC regulations for installation and safe operation of PV
systems. NABCEP/IAEI credits will be available to those who request it
upon registration.
Again, the course will be presented by John Wiles himself. For those of
you unfamiliar with Mr. Wiles, he is the Program Manager at the
Southwest Technology Development Institute at New Mexico State
University. He assists the PV industry, electrical contractors,
electrical inspectors, and purchasing agencies in understanding the PV
requirements of the NEC. He drafted the text for Article 690 in the 2002
and 2005 NEC Handbook.
