Steve, air to air, or heat recovery ventilators aren't as easy to find
as they were a few years ago. It's been hard to interest the public.
I've put these in catalogs or Sourcebooks several times over the years,
with very mediocre results. But they're still available. Here's a few
links for you:

Subject: Residential air-air vent heat exchanger source? [RE-wrenches]

A customer I once had lived in a ranch house with many layered windows,
sealed so tight cit was hard to open the front door for the suction.
Some 5 or more layers in each window. Our largest early PV pioneer
system in Zilla Washington about 1982.

He also had an air to air heat exchanger for whole house venting that
captured most of the exiting heat and pre-warmed the incoming air. A
lot of zig-zag sheet metal in a small package. Searching for such a
product now, all I see in heat exchangers are water to water and water
to air. Is there anything still made that captures heat in a building
to outdoor air exchange system?
