I'm not sure how that could be, considering the number of 120/240 volt plugs
out there. Every electric range sold in America has exactly that setup.
And Allan is right about the polarization of the plug in relation to the
"ground" terminal would make it hard to screw up. But you cannot connect
the grounding wire in this application without causing an improper multiple
bond.
But I think a better long term solution would be to use two separate styles
of plug & sockets. There are a number of uncommon twistlock style plugs
available.
