We own about a 2 dozen of these "HOBO" data loggers of different
sensor types.  Their newest version of their software provides lots of
graphing and printing options that were not as good in their first
version, and the cost is low.  Each is under $100 and they offer
models that can record temperature, light on/off, motor on/off,
humidity, voltage, current, and any 0-20ma commercial sensor input.
They recently started to offer a mini-weather station that is good for
base data.  Battery life is over 2 years.  Great product line.
