There's also the issue of low yielding wells. Adding PV watts isn't an
alternative in this case, because the well will only yield at a given
rate. If you want more total GPD in those cases, you need to pump more
hours of the day, and that means a tracker, whether it's convenient or not.
Personally, but I prefer to avoid the hassles of trackers for customer
systems. But sometimes the use of a tracker in solar pumping is strongly
indicated.
This is probably more an issue out here in the west, where we're much more
likely to spend big$$ on deep, low-yielding wells, and ranchers want to get
every last drop that they can.
