This is really good info. I've heard of these things but never known
what the source was (until now). Having tried the signage approach (This
power system provides water for my family and animals, please do not
tamper) and (WARNING! This is a known plague area!), this might be just
the ticket.

on Panel protection.... [RE-wrenches]
I have found that one of the best pieces of hardware you can
use
against vandalism and miscreants is to just out right NAIL them in the
act
with a device called a Game-Vu. It is normally used as a game trail
tracking device. It is a digital black and white camera (no-film) that
is
motion activated it will take up to 60 pictures and then cycle to the
beginning to take subsequent pictures. It has an array of infared led's
that allows you to take a pretty good picture of someone, in total
darkness
and the subject has no idea that he has been photographed at all! It
also works any other time of day. The amount of Led's that fire is
based
on the available light. Each picture has a time and date stamp in the
corner. It has an adjustable trigger delay for taking subsequent
photos, is fairly easy to conceal and can be set up to work with it's
own
small solar panel or an AC adapter. It uses 8 "AA" batteries. They go
for
$299.00 and will work with any video device with a video in feed. More
information can be gleaned from the manufacturer's web site at
http://www.gamevu.com/home.html. For the local police to do anything,
you
got to get them in the act anyways. Book-em Dan-O !
I bought mine from Cabela's outdoor Outfiiters, the only caveat is that
they say that it may not work as stated in spec's if temperature of
concealed unit falls below 32F.

Hi all,
I've a remote local government body installation that uses 3 of BP4160H
panels for the control of a water race. The panels are mounted on top of
a
small concrete building that has raised metal sides seemingly built to
military standards. Very heavy metal, indeed.
However, within a month of installation, the panels were wrecked by
vandals
throwing huge rocks at the panels surface.
Although I will be installing 6mm (approx 1/4") thick polycarbonate over
the panels to protect against the rock damage, is there anything else
that
can be done to avoid this happening. Short of installing a minefield or
machine-gun nest, of course.
Any known manufacturers that make a protective surface for panels?
This is such a really good application, I don't want the local govt body
becoming discouraged by idiots destroying it.
thanks in advance, John Veix,
Christchurch, N.Z.
