Way not legal. Also a bad idea. As the switch makes and breaks, the two
poles will not act exactly the same. This will result in one arc being
made first / broken last. That arc will have 60A across it. You'll fry
the switch.

I recently bought a disconnect switch for use in a grid tied system. The
switch is only a 30 amp unit rather than a 60 amp one. It IS double pole
though so what do the other list members think about the legality of
paralleling the 2 poles to increase their amperage rating, or should I
return it to the wholesaler and get a 60 amp unit?
Thanks,
Todd
