Hello Todd,

It depends on several things. Things that I wish I had a much better
understanding of.

The manufacturers rate their collectors daily output in given applications.
For example, Sun Earth rates their black chrome Empire model at 1,040
Btu's/day per ft2 with Ti-Ts of 36f. (Ti = Ambient Temp, Ta = Inlet Fluid
Temp) Which means the fluid coming into the collect is 36f warmer than
ambient air temp.

Continuing with Sun Earth; the Empire 4 x 10 collector has a net area of
37.33 ft2. So total daily BTU's equals 38,823. But that's not what you
asked for, is it? You wanted hourly. Your guess is a good as mine for
hourly. No one I've ever talked to seems to know the answer. Obviously
it's going to change radically throughout the day.

You can look at ASHRE tables and get hourly BTU's available for the time of
day for each month. They even break it out by angle of incidence. But
they don't tell you what the collector is actually collecting.

Hope that helped.

Does anyone have a ballpark number for the BTU/ hour of 4 X 10 flat
plate solar water collectors?

Thanks,

Todd
