Or derive the ohms from knowing the manufacturer's rating of coil 
current, and use ohms law, then calculate a resistor value to drop the 
voltage about 10%. Relays normally actuate starting at about half their 
rated voltage, so a constant 10% drop to the coil should be 
insignificant.
