Hi Jay,
            Was the genset their only charging source?  The problem I find
with relying on gensets as the primary charging source is that run times are
never long enough to get a full charge because of the way charging rate
tapers off.  Something like 70% run time to get the last 20% of charge in.
Very inefficient use of fuel.  If this was the case using the higher bulk
charge level would be perfectly justified.  I would not be comfortable using
it on a system with renewable sources though.
