  You may be right about the Panduit, but all it is is a plastic gutter box, 
right? If you have a continuous gutter that you can perforate anywhere you 
want to, ti seems a lot more sensible than having to have a whole lot of J 
boxes and conduit. With all that, what's the point of MC cables?

  I buy panduit at the local electrical supply house.  I
  have never used it outdoors, don't know the ratings
  for this. I use the material with many slots on the
  sides and wires can enter through these slots. then
  snap lid in place.

  I can not think of a code reason except for mechanical
  protection, and workman like manner.

  I may not understand, but can't you use conduit and
  junction boxes?
