Yikes! Hey Joel, here's an SW-as-UPS experience for you. Take it for
whatever it's worth. When the SW-series first came out we set one up as
a UPS for our server and phone system at Real Goods. All went well for a
couple years till we got hit with a high voltage spike from the grid one
day. The lights flared a bit, but the grid stayed up. The SW however saw
that 190v spike and shut down to protect itself! Ya know...unix servers
just HATE to be shut off unexpectedly. It was hours before the poor IT
guys got us back on line. 

Moral of the story: SW-series inverters are NOT designed to be a real
UPS. Use them as such at your peril. (We've been using a pair of Best
3kW units ever since. They're REAL UPSs.)
