Hi Dan
If I remember, Maytag will void it's warranty if their machines are used
with a mod. sinewave inverter. Why don't you call Outback and get their
input on this? Those washing machines are pretty expensive to take chances
with.

Wrenches,
I searched back through my archive of posting, and as of about 15
months
ago, there was little consensus on the use of Maytag Neptune washing
machines on a variety of inverters. Word then was, forget using mod-square
power, SW's seemed to work, PS's were questionable. Now we have potential
SW+ voltage sag issues, and I haven't heard any field experience from
Outback installers. I'd appreciate your experience.
The client I'm working with presently has a 2 year old Neptune they
run
exclusively on generator power (they have a 2-golf cart, 12 vdc light and
car radio PV system at present, but are getting a great deal on a used
Stream Engine with peripherals, and an old Trace U-2524 inverter). I'd be
inclined to suggest an Outback FX, for a variety of reasons. Their biggest
AC load will remain the washing machine (they're backcountry outfitters
and
have to launder a number of sleeping bags regularly).
Thanks in advance,
Dan Rice
