Fellow Wrenches,

First, thanks for the great response on my Enermaxer request. Several
offers, and one copy is on its way from Brian at AEE, the former
manufacturer. Good list!

A new grid-tie client has recently discovered (by turning it off for a month
while some electrical remodeling was occurring) that his 6-8 person hot tub
is making up about half of his electric bill. It came with the house, and he
wants to replace it with a small (2-3 person) unit. He has tried to locate
an efficient unit, but says most salespeople haven't much of a clue. This is
out of my area of expertise, but part of the bigger picture of helping his
3kW Sunny Boy system make a difference.

Who makes energy-efficient electrically-heated spas? What style, brand,
features should he look for? What levels of urethane foam insulation are
available? Who makes the best covers? A gas- or solar-heated hydronic zone
approach is out of consideration here. Any advice will be appreciated and
passed on to the client.

Thank you,
Allan at Positive E
