12S meter success..mostly [RE-wrenches]

Back to this meter thing, the 12S, 120 volt does work to monitor the output
of a net-metered 120 vac inverter. I just installed it. It won't perfectly
monitor the "gross" solar ac made, but rather the "net". At night the meter
will count slightly backwards, because the inverter's internal consumption
plus critical load power is what the utility is supplying, and only the
critical load power will cancel out. Same when the batteries are charging
from the grid. Power supplied is greater than critical load power. And the
meter will count forward when there is a power failure and critical loads
are being powered from the batteries. So the reading will not be an exact
indication but close of solar-made AC. A relay arrangement could be designed
to bypass the meter when these conditions exist if we really wanted to split
hairs.
