Sharp SunVista and new panels [RE-wrenches]

Sharp brought a one-day training to Northern CA just last week. The 70w
triangle module works only with their 140w module. There's a left and
right version, and they come in only one angle choice. (I *think* it's
45 degrees.) They're (supposedly) available right now in limited
quantities, coming out of Sharp's new Tennessee assembly plant. They're
significantly more expensive per watt than square/rectangular modules
because they're hand assembled, but I must admit, the finished arrays
look slick as all get out. You MUST contact Sharp, get the roof layout
form they make available, submit your measurements, and let them design
your panel layout. There is one guy in North America with the
copyrighted sizing/drawing program! The mounting system is a variation
of Uni-Rac Solar Mount rail...but with one somewhat customized rail
*between* each row horizontally. The edges of the modules rest on a
little extra shelf extruded out the sides of the standard Solar Mount
rail. There is NO margin for error in rail placement. Humph! Nobody at
the seminar had anything good to say about their mounting system...which
is pretty much a requirement if you use the triangle modules. Plan on
charging a bit more labor, but hey, it looks really good when you're
done, and to many homeowners, that's pretty damn important.

Cheers,
Doug Pratt

Subject: Sharp SunVista and new panels [RE-wrenches]

Hi All,

I have been hired for a new residential PV project that seems to cry out

for the new trangular Sharp panels and their new 3500 SunVista inverter
(Hip roofs meeting at 45 degree angles and half the panels will face SE
and half will face SW.)

So does anybody out there have some experiences to report with this
equipment yet?
