NABCEP exam [RE-wrenches]

Jeff,

There is a 60-page study guide that has very similar problems and the answer
to the problem being discussed. I think the issue was more than adequately
covered in the guide. I do have personal opinions about the emphasis of the
exam, and I hope to make some changes in future versions. I'm glad to hear
that there is not a huge upheaval about the exam. It is comforting that
folks focused on the safety problem.

Bill.

Bill,

I believe that even the SAT tests are published after the fact. They do this
fora bunch of reasons, including:
 - public review sometimes finds that "right" answers are either wrong, or
are not the only right answer to the question.
 - review of questions by others helps to maintain relevance to the larger
group being served by the test (that's the people who take it, AND the
people who look to the certification as a measure of standing).
 - public review helps to work against bias, of many types, in the
questions.

I do not know what the SAT publication schedule is, but I think it would
only help NABCEP to have public discussion of test questions and answers.

Bill,

It seems there should be some forum to discuss this so
that the test can improve. I did register several
remarks on specific questions on the comment form
given us after the exam, but Jeff just reminded me of
two more that I didn't comment on.

Since most of the questions were modeled after
questions in the study guide which is available to
anyone online I can't see harm coming of discussion.
Won't they revise the questions for the next round
anyway?

By the way David, I answered "gloves" for that
question even though I usually don't use any of the
items that were offered as answers for that one.
Here's to the next round of practitioners getting a
test with more relevant questions.

Jerry
