Well pumps and SWs revisited [RE-wrenches]

I find this subject or particular interest since I have a hydro installation
that uses two stacked 5548's to power not only a three horsepower pump but
also three homes with furnaces and all the usual loads (although it is a
working ranch and two of the homes are only occupied on occasion) . The most
common cause of a trip due to overload is if they are branding with the
electric brands.
It has always been my suspicion and confrmed by a number of IEE's that the
only thing that helps keep tripping events low is the use of over 2000 feet
of 4/0-4/0-2/0 cable for distribution from the turbine house that acts like
a giant choke to limit surge current. Would a large choke from say a big
welder serve the same purpose without compromising the systems efficiency or
performance?
Just a thought

Hi Ray,
The subject of the 5548's not being able to surge has been discussed at
great length here on the site. It has caught a LOT of people and put them
into some real problems.
There are no fixes ( except really change the loads or get new inverters)
for the problem.
