Not entirely correct. 2% instantaneous loss is a bit low, but somewhere between 2-3% on a non-standard transformer is about right. Some transformers are much worse (5-6%) especially in the smaller sizes (10kVA). Now integrate the 2-3% instantaneous loss over the entire daily downtime of the inverter and compare to the PV power production throughout the day. The 2-3% becomes much larger compared to PV production. Have fun.

I don't think your efficiency numbers are correct. It is true the efficiency
is 96% BEFORE the transformer, but the transformer is going to consume an
additional 2%, not 6%. I still think you can put a 30kW inverter in a
smaller space than 12 SBs, but the difference may not be huge. The German
Mark is the other problem-cost.
