SW5548 AND DIMMERS [RE-wrenches]

Hello Pagan and wrenches

I tried to use a smaller cap 4MF and it seems to be working. I also
purchased the wrong type (I believe) the first time. I used the
Grainger 6X652.

Is this because of the SCR's in the dimmers trying to work together with
the synthesized sine wave? Could it be a chorus of harmonics when the
refrigerator comes on also?

Thanks for the tip Pagan.

Thanks for the responses everyone!!!!!

Hi Keith,

Looks like there was some confusion/miscommunication with tech
support...I'm sorry about that. The cap topic has come up previously on
this list and I suspect the voltage rating of the cap you installed
might be causing the problem. If it worked for a while and then blew
that would be the first thing to check. You don't mention the Vac rating

in your post so it's difficult for me to confirm my suspicion.

Installing a motor run capacitor on both units rated at 50 uf or higher
with a voltage rating of 370 Vac should take care of the issue.

Grainger part number is 5X433 - they're about $19 each.

Try it out...if you still have trouble with the system contact me off
list and we'll do some more investigation.

Best,

Pagan

They recommended I install a 80 micro farad capacitor to choke the
signal. Well, it worked for a little while last night till I created a
lava flow/ firecracker. It seems perhaps the 88 microfarad's that I
picked up from Grainger weren't large enough.
