Battery pack failure (was Quirky and amusing things...) [RE-wrenches]

I always thought NiMh batteries had greater energy density than NiCd's, plus the
fact that they have no cadmium to worry about in the landfills made me think
they were the superior rechargeable battery... am I wrong here?
