SB2500 and mixing panels [RE-wrenches]

Keith,

This is an interesting situation. It would probably be better to add
4-BP150's rather than 160's, but if they already bought them, it should be
fine.

This is generally a no-no since most people don't have the understanding to
look at the issues of dissimilar modules in the same series string. After
looking at these two module characteristics, they will probably work fine
together with a little higher mismatch losses than would normally occur with
the same model module. Remember that Siemens/Shell just rerated their
modules so the SP-150 is really closer to a BP-140. BP rerated their modules
about two years ago (down).

This is definitely better than putting modules of the same string in
different orietations. Although becoming too common of a practice in
California, those mismatch losses are much worse than the differences in the
two products you are dealing with.

Bill.

Hello

I have a customer who has 8 Siemens SP150's and wants to add 4- BP160's
to work on a SB2500.
Do any of you see this as a potential problem due to voltage and current
being different on the string, or
does it matter? They will be all on the same orientation.

Regards,
