17" LCD displays do 1280 x 1024 and are quite inexpensive nowadays. If you replace several CRTs with them you could easily lose a few hundred Watts.
Split system A/C are much more efficient than window units. Some were available in 3-4,000 BTU/H sizes last time I looked.
