Lags vs. Timberloks [RE-wrenches]

RE:  Do folks use stainless lags?  How are they for shear strength for
the 
head snapping off as opposed to lags?

Jeff / Wrenches:

Stainless Lags & Fasteners are "standard" as far as I'm concerned.  18/8
Grade.  Stainless lags "run down" much better than galvanized.  The
threads are far cleaner.

Heads shearing off has never been a problem for me.  Pre-Drill your
spot!

Over-Torquing Machine-Thread Bolts can be a snap hazard, though.
Especially if you are using Stainless Steel Nylocks.  They gall often,
for some reason.  Use of a lubricant or thread-cutting oil seems to
minimize this problem.
