pond aerator [RE-wrenches]

Windy,

In this case I'm more concerned with circulation from bottom to top than
with TDO levels. Injecting a high volumn of air bubbles at a deep point in
the water (as you know) breaks up any problems with thermocline buildup,
plus the benefeit from additional O helps prevent things going anaerobic at
the bottom. Another interesting phenomena is that very litle oxygen is
actually disolved in water as air bubbles perk up through it; it more like
just passes through. Perhaps plants are more effective?

Plus, if you're dealing with very warm weather and lots of fish, the ox.
gets depleted pretty danged fast if you're not reintoducing about every hour
during the night. Also, since the air is (hopefully) cooler at night the
water can let go of lots of excess heat. In cold climates you have to keep
ice from forming during the night, so you have a similar need for periodic
(at least) bursts of air and movement.

One problem I'm trying to come to grips with is how to best protect
batteries is a very cold environment without having to dig deep in the
ground every time you want to access 'em. Remote, unattended wind and solar
sites seem prone to problems and failure if you don't take every conceivable
situation into account, oui?
It's all so Complicated!
