Wrenches:

I must jump in here and correct some bad information.
I disagree with Bill's characterizations of the Sunny Boy / Phtowatt
combination as not a good match.
I believe that 18 PW1650 will match very well to a 2500U.
This is very similar to a system with 18 Sharp / SAPC 165's that many
folks are using with great success.

The negative aspects of the PW 1650's are minor and are:
The system has CEC rating of 2521 so you will lose 21 Watts worth of
rebate.
We reccomend an external fan to prevent thermal derating.
Losses due to shading are potentially higher for array voltages that
are near the lower voltage input range. If severe shading is an issue a
single string of 18 modules in a 12 volt configration would be better
that 2 strings of 9 modules in a 24 volt configuration.

Travis,

How about a 165-Watt module does not match well with a SunnyBoy....
A 140 or 150 is a better match. 165 is good for a Sharp inverter, for
obvious reasons.

If you use 18, 165-Watt modules, you better not have any shade. If you
have
any 9am - 3pm shade, pick another module in the 140-150 range.

Bill.

Please do tell more about these ratings. Where does one find them?

Greetings Wrenches,
Has anyone out there had any experience with Photowatt's PW-1650
12/24v modules. See any reason not to utilize them on a 6KW job? 149
watts PTC versus 144.8 PTC SAPC 165. Equivalent in weight for other
modules in their class. Any other observations or experience?

Thanks in advance,

Nick A Lucchese
