It's true the SW5548 doesn't surge as well as the 4kVA SW units. I
believe it's been discussed in the past on this list. The reason I was
given is that the 5.5 kVA unit was intended for more sensitive loads and
doesn't allow the voltage to sag as much as the smaller units when
starting large motor loads. Thus better power quality means less surge
ability.
