flooded v. sealed batteries [RE-wrenches]

Joel,
I didn't wade through Hammond's paper, but Hund's work was fundamentally
flawed. He published a report that concluded sealed batteries were more
common in PV systems than flooded. When I questioned this (years ago) I
learned that he based his study on a survey of PV system
integrators/distributors. They had shipped far more sealed batts than
flooded. But look closer: sealed batteries can be shipped. Flooded can't. So
we get flooded batts from battery distributors with delivery trucks. They
didn't show up on the survey.

Since Hammond's report starts out with a similar survey of large system
integrators, the same flawed conclusions may have resulted.
