Yes - multiple OutBack MX60s will work together "out of the box" without
any special wiring or master slaving required. We considered a
requirement for the design from day one. We also worried a lot about
working with multiple C40s, SW inverters - and yes - even on systems
with mixed MPPT controllers.

Requiring inter-communication, special wiring, external shunts etc. for
the MPPTs to work together is a band-aid to underlying problems. If it
is designed correctly from the start it simply is not necessary or
desireable. Inter-communicating should be used to improve the operation
(such as allow easy viewing of the meters or a single temp sensor
coordination) but should not be required for proper operation together.
A system should still operate correctly with the communication not
functioning when possible.

Making system "communicate" is not the "holy grail" or some ultimate
solution - it can actually just result in more problems if not done
correctly. Making products that work together properly under a variety
of conditions is the best solution. Having separate communication
systems for the charge controllers and the inverters sounds like a real
mess to me.
