Uplift Wind Loading Values [RE-wrenches]

Wrenches,
Does anyone have good info on how to obtain measures? As late as 2001, my
brief research has shown that even ASCE standards have not come up with any
reasonable method for what could be called similar structures.

To quote a Clemson University study entitled Wind Uplift Forces on Roof
Canopies, found online: "Building designers in the United States frequently
have to determine wind loads for the design of free standing canopy roofs,
porches, building entryway covers or other exposed or partially exposed roof
structures. To date, the American Society of Civil Engineers Standard, ASCE
7, has not specifically provided guidance to estimating wind loads on these
structures. Other codes and standards such as the Australian Standard, the
British Code of Practice and the Euro Code have provided wind load
information for these structures. "

This is a request from an inspector for a small flush mounted array install
on a south facing tile roof using tile-trac system, just in plan check.
It's the first time I've ever even been asked to provide this information
for a flush mounted roof array. Have others? He also wanted details of
array support on the tile-trac system. Are there any guidelines for
roof-mounted or canopied arrays concerning wind uplift calculations,
specifically from our industry? Or are we just discussing the size of the
lag bolt and the type of wood in the roof trussing?

I believe if we all think uplifting thoughts the load will be reduced.
Especially today.

PD
