Lapse rates are 3 to 5% per 1,000 ft. el.
Oxygen decreases at 3% per 1,000 ft el. Try working hard at 12,000 ft el.
Atmospheric pressure decreases at 3 to 5 % per 1,000 ft.el.
Vehicle engine performance decreases at 3 to 4% per 1,000 ft.el.
Onan derates their generators at 4% per 1,000 ft. el.
Another generator manufacturer derates at 3% per 1,000 ft. el.
I have seen several PV arrays @ 30% over rating at 10,000 ft el.[ again 3%
per 1,000 ft. el.]

I see a pattern. 3 - 5% per 1,000 ft el.
I design at 3% / 1,000 ft el. for both PV or LP Gas or diesel generators.
Don't forget snow reflection and edge of cloud. Oversize your charge
controller by another 15%.
We saw 39% over panel rating today at 10,000 ft el. with a clear sky and a
perfect snow field in front of the Watsun tracked array. With a 33.6 amp
array rating at 24 vdc and we were getting 46.7 amps coming in on an array
that is 4 years old. Yes sir altitude works.
