Just watch out for converting to DC those LED lightstrings with a
cycling
controller box. Remember they use AC to light the string, so half the
LEDs
are reverse polarity. Pulse chopping positive and negative halves of the
sine wave is sometime used to create parts of those patterns.  A few I
tried
to convert required reversing polarity on only half will light, so the
polarity pattern has to match your fifths chopping or you have a big lot
of
labor there.
