TV interference [RE-wrenches]

Matt and Frank,

John B. did a nice job of laying out the issues. Interference has always
been an issue with inverters, and most system designers and consumers have
been ignorant on the subject.

There are two common types of interference:

1. Radiated---through the air. This is addressed by the proximity of
antennas and other sensitive devices. The worse the radiation, the farther
away you have to go. An old transister radio is a good meter for this kind
of interference. If you can pick up radio stations without static--you're
probably good.

and,

2. Conducted---through wires. Although the length of the wire will tend to
dissapate some objectionable frequencies, some frequencies can travel long
distances in wires. Location of sensitive devices that are plugged into
outlets that are conducting this noise will be unable to get away from this
problem.--2 Solutions--(1) find another product that is not as sensitive,
(2) or put a filter at the outlet (or better yet filter the noise maker).

Bill.

Frank,

Yes! I've had two long-time clients complain about visual static as well as
buzzing on the phones. Over the years we tried several different makes of
filters. moving antennas and phones, you name it. Nothing worked 100%. Maybe
they should move the antenna again.
