Kent,

The CEC requirement is for all major components to have a 5-year warranty.
Major components are defined as modules and inverters (nothing else is
listed as "major"). Full system warranty includes all parts and labor for
five years. This is required for all contractor-installed systems (one
reason we see a lot of "owner installations").

Easy Bill, the warranty may be extended up by the installer/integrator,
which is how it was done for many of the early CEC rebate years. I think
you will find that there is a lot of components in a PV system that do
not come with 5 year warranties.

The CEC set the standard at five years. The manufacturers are required
to
follow suit if they want their product sold in California.
