Oh my, oh my Omnion [RE-wrenches]

I did over 240 Omnion 4 and 6 kW inverters for SMUD 1995-96. Actually, Placer Electric did the installations, Greg Johanson did field supervision and I
managed the project. We had a 6% failure rate caused by DOAs. Omnion tried to blame the installers to get out of the warranty repair, but the problems were
not the installers' fault. Even warranted units were killing me (costing $200 to pull, replace, and ship inverter to factory). So I wrote an installation
procedure that Omnion (Hans Myers) agreed to. The deal was if the installer followed the installation procedure and signed the form and the inverter failed
within the first year, Omnion would honor the warranty and pay for shipping both ways. Failures dropped to zero. If anyone wants a copy of the procedure,
email off-line.

I recommend contractors work out similar deals with all suppliers to stop DOAs, reduce call-backs, save on shipping and make money. Yes, I know this is a
great idea so you all owe me big for this one :-)
